NeTubes are transparent tubes located in urban space. The NeTubes are activated by motion and express this activity in an informational and experiential way. Inside these tubes passersby can let their bodies as well as mind interact physically with online information. The NeTubes are self-sufficient systems, applying solar energy to self-energize and wireless hotspots in order to communicate with the net as well as each other. NeTubes translate some of the fundamental qualities of the Internet (e.g. indefinite size, quasi-control, anonymity, ubiquity, democratization, individual expression facilitation, accumulation of information, etc.) into a tangible, meaningful presence and embodies the need for functionality with the need for a pleasurable and engaging form of communication in the often-hectic contemporary urban environment.
